Here is the second night of playing with v1 of the D&D Next playtest rules. (First night is HERE) If you’ve never played “Keep on the Boarderlands” or journeyed in to the Caves of Chaos…*Spoiler Alert*
Though c’mon its almost a 30yr old adventure…
Insert Bob Joke HERE
A quick run down of the people in our group again:
- Bob - Alec Raithe, Human Rogue – Swashbuckler Theme
- Greg - Valyse Terrywind, Half Elf Fighter – Explorer Theme
- Katie - Jaina Daleborn, Human Cleric – Witch/Commoner Theme
- Richard - “Hobnail”, Dwarf Fighter – Gladiator Theme
- Joren - Arioch, Elf Wizard – Explorer Theme
**EDIT** I think THIS might be the map that everyones’ highschool brains kept fixating on! I made it in photoshop and had planned on doing the classic “coffee stain and burned edges” treatment…but I ran out of time. Feel free to use it. I tried to make it so that there were no party spoilers on it…ie, its basically what you could see from the canyon opening.

My friend downloaded the same play test material from wotc (guess they made it public after the nda finished), and I was volunteered to play. It might be a new version, because It doesn’t give you the info to make your own character as far as I know, and instead has 5 pre-made characters; dwarf cleric, human cleric, dwarf fighter, halfling rogue, high elf wizard.
We got sent the new round of playtest stuff too and I was a little sad. Like you mentioned, there wasnt any character creation and I actually really appreciated the less-complicated set of rules from the first packet.
I personally havent played any of the ‘public’ test yet, so I suppose I can’t be too overly critical….but it felt like a big “hey lets jam back in a whole bunch of 4e stuff!”
I love this stuff. Keep it up!
Glad you like em! We had a blast!
