D&D 4e Release Weekend Game

After digging through some old D&D files, I stumbled upon this classic gem (well, Greg sent it to me…but thats hardly as dramatic).

It was the first weekend after 4th Edition came out and the very early beginnings of what would become this site. Bob! Greg, Zach, and I decided to try and record a podcast of us playing “The Keep on the Shadowfell.” (Nows the time to mention SPOILER ALERT, if you havent played the adventure)

It was our first go-round, so the mics aren’t as balanced as I would like…but I think there’s still some good material in there! This is Part 1…though we do a terrible intro, and the very beginning of the adventure was played before we thought to record it.

Bob! — Abathar, the human wizard
Greg — Bordant, the human rogue
Zach — Metalsmith, the human paladin

When you recorded the 5e stuff, did you have back ground music like this one? As someone listening to the pod cast (rather than someone one playing in one), i found it made it harder to follow sometimes.

It was some good role playing, but i prefer pathfinder over 4e.

The playtest stuff does not have music on in the background. I completely agree with you! I don’t think we realized how loud it was at the time. There are many things we’ve done differently for the playtest recording, and so far as I’ve been going through it, it sounds much more balanced.

The Traveller game that George will be running for us to record specifically for the site will be a much better setup as well…individual mics and my mixer. haha, of course Bob! and George will over-modulate at any setting.
